While I acquired my bachelor’s degree in Audio Production back in 2018, I have only recently jumped headfirst into podcasting. Below you will find examples of two of the podcasts I am actively producing.
PODCAST EDITOR / PRODUCER / HOST
Brothers & Balrogs is an actual play Dungeons and Dragons podcast. For each episode, I edit a 3-4 hour long recording session into a 1-2 hour long show. In addition, I often add extra sound design elements such as foley, ambience, and music in order to enhance the storytelling. While still classified as a podcast, Brothers & Balrogs is an audio drama at its core.
Ice Cream Monday is a podcast with a simple premise: Each episode, the married cohosting duo taste a new flavor of ice cream and review it. It is a short form podcast, averaging 30 minutes or so, but it follows the same sort of format that most enthusiast podcasts do, with an scripted intro, exit, and recurring segments.
What originally drew me to audio production is my musical ability. In 2021, I recorded and mixed an album for the band my wife I started called Snow-Tipped Wing. Below you can that album, as well as a solo project I finished back in 2018.
MUSICAL ARTIST / PRODUCER / ENGINEER
This album required many instruments including piano, drums, violin, mandolin, glockenspiel, and more. We recorded every single part of this album without the help of a professional studio. I then went through the mixing process all the way up until sending the album off to be mastered.
This album is an experiment that turned out to my capstone project for my degree in Audio Production. With the exception of the very last song, not a single instrument is played on the album. Everything you hear on the album comes from the following two sources: Three people singing and sounds that naturally occur in nature. Like I said, it was an experiment, but I am proud of what I was able to accomplish, especially with so little experience under my belt.
